The third of fifty-two short stories completed!
My third story for this challenge got away from me word-count-wise as it ended up being a novelette finishing at 13,810 words. It is a dramatization of the backstory for a Non-Player Character (NPC) that showed up in the Dungeons & Dragons game I run for my friends. It was a challenge to put together the narrative, and I discovered a number of things about the protagonist in writing this first draft that’ll be fun to smooth out in future drafts.
